ASSESSMENT AND PLACEMENT

The results for Aptitude Test for entering Department of Culinary Arts and Management, which will be developed and administered by the University, will be added to form a score. This score will be referred as “Aptitude Test Score” (OYSP) henceforward. Aptitude Test is a two-step test. First step includes written exam, and second step includes interview. Each step will be based on 100 points. Candidates scoring over 50 points in written exam will be invited for second step. Aptitude Test Score (OYSP) will be calculated according to the average of written and oral exam scores.

The three types of scores specified below will be multiplied by certain percentages in order to calculate the placement score.
a) OYSP (Aptitude Test Score-Standard Score)
b) OBP  (High School GPA) (the highest of OBP-SÖZ(verbal), OBP-SAY(quantitative), OBP-EA (equal weight)
c) 2017-YGS Score (YGS-P) (the highest of YGS scores)

In determining the placement score, the highest of YGS scores indicated in 2017 YGS score card, and the High School GPA announced with 2017 LYS results by OSYM for this score type will be taken into consideration.

The score (Placement Score= YP) that will be a basis to placement is calculated according to below formula:

a) For candidates who graduated from relevant departments of vocational school specified in Appx. 1:
YP = ( 1,17 x OYSP-SP ) + ( 0,11 x OBP ) + ( 0,22 YGS-P ) + ( 0,03 x OBP )

b) For candidates who graduated from other high schools
YP = ( 1,17 x OYSP-SP ) + ( 0,14 x OBP ) + ( 0,22 YGS-P )

In this case, the Placement Score (YP) for candidates is calculated by multiplying the OYSP-SP by 1.17, multiplying the highest YGS raw score by 0.22, and multiplying the High School GPA by 0.11 for candidates not graduated from relative departments, and by 0.14 for candidates graduated from fields specified in Table-1, and adding all three figures together.

The coefficients to be applied to weighted high school GPA’s of the candidate will be decreased in half for candidates who were placed in 2016-ÖSYS based on YGS/LYS scores or aptitude test. This rule will also apply to the programs with limited quota in Open Education. The rule will not apply to candidates from vocational high schools that were placed in programs without an exam, and programs which do not have limited quota in 2016-ÖSYS.

OYSP (Aptitude Test Score-Standard Score) is turned into a standard score in order to be included in weighting when determining the YP (Placement Score). Each candidate has an average of 50 and a standard deviation of 10.  In order to turn the OYSP’s into standard score, first the average of OYSP Score quantile and standard deviation is calculated. Then the below formula is used for each candidate to calculate the OYSP Standard Score.

                                                                    Candidate’s OYSP Score – Average of OYSP Score Quantile
                                                         10 x     _____________________________________________         +50
OYSP STANDARD SCORE =                         Standard Deviation of OYSP Score Quantile
(OYSP-SP)

Main and waiting list of candidates who will be eligible for final registration are determined this way and the selection is made starting from the highest Placement Score. After the final registrations of the candidates from the main list are completed, the number and place in line for candidates who will register from the waiting list will be announced.
